Annual Tu Bi'Shevat Campaign
A New Home for Yona

Our Annual Campaign is now closed. Thank you to our wonderful donors and volunteers across Canada who supported this campaign, the projects, and the communities in Israel who will benefit from more accessible housing and rejuvenated forests.

Since then, Yona has been living in a residential facility for the severely handicapped. While the facility provides him with physical support, it does not address his cognitive state. In Israel, there is no suitable solution for Yona or others in his situation - with physical disability but normative cognitive understanding.
For more than a decade, Yona has been very verbal about the right to be able to live with individuals his age and to be able to enjoy a full life that includes employment, exposure to culture, and activities tailored to his abilities and desires.

Community Housing for Adults with Disabilities
To achieve this vision, Kav Lachayim has begun plans for two homes for adults with physical disabilities to live more independently. The premise is simple: A welcoming and well-designed home within Kibbutz Hagoshrim, where residents with disabilities have their support services but also regain some independence through employment within the community, and importantly, daily encounters with other residents and local neighbours alike.

Rejuvenation of the Segev Forest
In the spirit of Tu Bi’Shevat (New Year of Trees), we will also be fundraising for the Segev Forest. For over 70 years, the Segev Forest has provided the shade of trees, unique flowers and wildlife, walking and cycling trails, and incredible archaeological sites to the many communities of the lower Galilee. But it’s old and damaged, and in need of rehabilitation. It’s now time for us to provide care in return. The rejuvenation of this beloved forest will serve both people and wildlife now and for future generations.
