The Project
THE ISRAEL TENNIS CENTER IN HAIFA
The 2018 JNF Edmonton Negev Gala Dinner will benefit the Ettenberg Israel Tennis Center (ITC) in Haifa. ITC uses tennis to promote unity and coexistence among Israeli youth by uniting children of different races, religions, and economic backgrounds and building relationships of trust. No child is ever turned away.
This Gala will fund the installation of the Lisa Miller and Farrel Shadlyn Q.C. Tennis Courts for Peace. Today, the ITC-Haifa is at maximum capacity. The facility must expand to respond to emergent needs of vulnerable youth from low income households, new immigrant families, and children with special needs. Plans include the construction of two new tennis courts and expanding the building for more classrooms to accommodate ITC’s growing education, remediation and enrichment programs.
Please join us in honouring Lisa Miller and Farrel Shadlyn with your support for this life changing project. The Lisa Miller and Farrel Shadlyn Q.C. Tennis Courts for Peace will provide an opportunity for children of all backgrounds to learn and play a common game.

LISA MILLER & FARREL SHADLYN Q.C.
Lisa Miller was born and raised in Edmonton while Farrel Shadlyn had deep roots in this community, long before moving here from Toronto. Married in 1984, Lisa and Farrel immediately began volunteering in the Jewish community and community at large. Between them they have served on a dozen boards in the Jewish community, often serving in leadership roles.
In the City of Edmonton, their volunteer time has ranged from the YMCA and Edmonton Boxing & Wrestling Commission to the Citadel and Phoenix Theatres to the Telus World of Science and Edmonton Community Foundation. Farrel has been practicing law for more than 30 years, specializing in family, criminal defence and personal injury. He has also served on numerous boards and committees within the legal community. Lisa was the first female sports broadcaster in Western Canada, working for 21 years in Television and Radio, before becoming an independent producer of television documentaries and live awards shows. She also MC’s many community events.
They have three children, Ariana, Toban and Tevyn, who currently reside everywhere but Edmonton. As Lisa and Farrel enjoy traveling, dropping in on the kids is just part of the experience of seeing the world.
