A peaceful community in shockKissufim is a kibbutz located within the Eshkol Regional Council in the western part of the northern Negev in the Gaza Envelope. It is a stunning area situated between green fields, groves, orchards, and carpets of anemones during the beautiful winter season. The Kibbutz was founded in 1951 by a cohort of youth movement members from the United States and South America. Today, there are approximately 270 members and residents living in the Kibbutz.
On October 7, 2023, Kissufim was on one of the frontlines of the massacre. In addition to the 6 residents murdered and 4 kidnapped, 8 soldiers also died during the fighting that ensued. Many of the buildings and living structures were heinously destroyed by terrorists and in the fighting that followed. The residents of Kissufim have been displaced for over 6 months and are suffering post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other adversities. The brutal terrorist attack left profound scars among the members of the community. Despite this and the daunting task of rebuilding their homes, they are determined to return.
Help Us Build a Post-Trauma CentreEstablishing a clinic for post-trauma treatments will allow community members and members of the surrounding communities to receive essential trauma care closer to home. The centre will include:
- Two small therapy rooms, suitable for individual therapy and allowing privacy and tranquility
- Large therapy room, for group therapy and well-equipped to allow connection and support between group members
- Waiting room, to welcome patients in pleasant, inviting, and comforting space
- Office workplace for the clinic staff equipped with a coffee space and accessible bathrooms for the disabled.
