A Community Shabbat Dinner

For Young Professionals

  • STARTS
  • VENUE
12 Heaton Street, Toronto, (ON), Canada  M3H 4Y6

JNF Future and UptownCYP have partnered together to host A Community Shabbat Dinner for young professionals! Join us to celebrate Shabbat and unite with the young Jewish community of Toronto during these dark times.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by fellow young Jews, to schmooze and connect. We will sing traditional Shabbat songs, hear the blessings of Kiddish over wine, Hamotzei over challah, and come together for a traditional Tisch* following the dinner.

* In Yiddish, Tisch means table. Traditionally, a Tisch consists of coming together around a table for refreshments, camaraderie, and a time to share words of wisdom and meaning.

Our special guest whom will join us in leading the Tisch are:

Jonny Daniels was born in London, England. He emigrated to Israel at 18 to serve in the Israeli Army, where he held the rank of staff Sergeant in the 890 Paratroopers Unit. Following his military service, he worked in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, as Cheif of Staff to Members of Knesset and Ministers. Jonny went on to found the ‘From The Depths Foundation’ (@fromthedepthsfoundation) in 2014 that focuses on Holocaust memory and memorial. Jonny is a contributor to multiple international media outlets and is often on CNN, Fox News, Newsmax and more. He was voted by the ‘Algemeiner’ Newspaper as one of the most 100 influential Jews in the world today.

Danielle Michaelov is a Toronto based content creator, focusing on all things coffee and lifestyle. As a proud Jewish woman, Danielle highlights a lot of her content around Jewish customs like holiday rituals, challah making, and educational posts in which she can inspire both Jewish and non-Jewish followers. With posting about Judaism and Israel comes a lot of Antisemitism. Danielle uses her voice to speak up against the hatred by providing educational resources, powerful messages, and tips on how people can get involved to combat antisemitism both online, and in our communities.
